YOUTH BEGINNER GROUPS

BRONZE

IDEAL FOR:  Ages 5-15 who are new to the water or hesitant to go underwater.

LOCATIONS:  Steel Fitness Premier (formerly the Human Performance Center) at 250 Cetronia Road in Allentown

                   Emmaus Aquatic Club at 2546 Mill Race Road in Emmaus

SUMMER 2013 SESSION at SFP:  June 24 - July 31st for a total of 6 weeks (No scheduled breaks).  Classes available on Mondays and Wednesdays at 5:30pm.  

SUMMER 2013 SESSIONS at EMAC:  Session 1: June 17-28 (Mon-Thur with Tues as WLSL, Mon-Thur)

                                                   Session 2: July 8-19 (Mon-Thur, Mon-Wed)

                                                   Session 3: July 22 - Aug 2 (Mon-Thur, Mon-Wed)

FREQUENCY:  One lesson per week at SFP.  EMAC Sessions are 7 daily lessons over a two-week period.  The Thursday and Friday of the second week are reserved for weather-related cancellation make-ups. 

TO REGISTER:  From the Home Page, click on the Summer Swim Lesson tab on the right side. Scroll down to the bottom, where you'll see a tab for Youth Group Lessons – select the Youth Beginner tab and choose your preferred class day(s) and time.

STUDENT/INSTRUCTOR RATIO:  maximum 4:1

CLASS LENGTH:  30 minutes

COST:  SFP Summer Session is $105 for 6 weeks.  EMAC Summer Sessions are $125 for 7 lessons.  A $20 non-refundable ANNUAL registration fee also applies.

CURRICULUM FOLLOWED:   SwimAmerica Stations 1 & 2

SKILLS TAUGHT:   Gradual water adaptation, submersion of face, breath holding and release, blowing bubbles, opening eyes underwater as well as front/back floats and glides, streamlines and basic kicking skills. 

ADVANCEMENT GOALS: 

Station 1 "Bubbles" 10 relaxed bobs

Station 2 "Floats and Glides" Front glides and back glides (5 seconds) recovering to standing position

 

SILVER

IDEAL FOR:  Ages 5-15 who are able to comfortably and consistently do 10 bobs in the water with air exchange (blowing bubbles underwater and breathing in air above staying near surface of water).  Students who have completed SwimAmerica Station 1.
